My Top 10 Books List

Recently there has been a chain going around on Facebook in which people list their Top 10 favourite books and then nominate their friends to do the same. I was nominated and compiled my list but I’m not entirely sure how I feel about putting it on Facebook. I feel like my blog is a more appropriate place. So here goes:

Harry Potter – J.K. Rowling. I have been reading the Harry Potter books since I was 12 years old and I’ve officially lost count of how many times I have read them. Everything about them is fantastic and I would strongly advise everyone who has not read them to do so as soon as possible. Like NOW.

Just Listen – Sarah Dessen. I love all of Sarah Dessen’s books, but Just Listen was the first one that I read and it has stuck with me. There are so many lessons for young women in her books and they definitely got me through my teenage years (despite the fact that I had a very normal childhood). I really want to do a review of this book sometime soon.

On the Jellicoe Road – Melina Marchetta. This book made an impression on me after I took it out from a local library when I was about 14. A few years later, I was still thinking about the story and wanted to re-read it but could not for the life of me remember the full name of the book or the author. It took some serious digging but I finally found it again. Marchetta has a number of other books also and I would highly recommend them all.

I Am the Messenger – Markus Zusak. Markus Zusak has a way of writing that keeps you captivated from the first page to the last page and I love every single one of his books. The story line of this book is so brilliant and unique – it is truly unforgettable.

The Help – Kathyrn Stockett. The story line of this book is beautiful and moving and I have no doubt that it is a book I would want my kids to read one day.It has a fantastic lesson and it also has moments that are absolutely hilarious.

The Magicians’ Guild Trudi Canavan. This is a trilogy that I did not expect to love, but I have been obsessed with them for years now and have also read each of them multiple times. It has a female lead character, which is always great. Also MAGIC!
